So, I've got 8 weeks off. Meep, sorry, 6 left. So, SIX WEEKS before I have to be a mature, responsible adult again. I want to dye my hair blue and purple Now, it's currently dark blonde-ish, so I'd need to bleach it first. I'm thinking of dipping the ends? What do you think? I'd just cut the ends off (I need a trim anyway) before I go back to work in September. Mika, I know you have funky hair... halp?

Definitely purple That'd suit you so well, more than the blue. I don't know why, if I'm honest, that's just the feeling I get

I heard my name so here I aaaaaam! I second purple! You could try a color-melt of some sort to achieve both blue and purple (spoiler photo below) That way you can use both colors to achieve that dip-dye ombre you're thinking of. Or, a color-melt ombre would be epic on you~ so from a dark purple to a light lilac pastel purple (more photos for you below!) Are you planning to salon-dye or home-dye? I can help you figure out more nit-picky details depending on which one!

That first photo is SO INCREDIBLY EPIC But I need to be able to wash/cut it out at the end of the summer to go back to work, so I guess the second one is probably more sensible I was going to do it at home, but I don't know how I'll reach to the back lol. I don't know how good salons would be at this? Are they pretty okay? My last salon experience was awful. I went and asked for full-head high- and low-lights, to blend in my naturally-growing-out dark blonde with the dark brown I'd coloured it a year ago, and they did nothing. I spent £70 ($110) on it, and you literally couldn't see ANYTHING afterwards I wish I'd had the balls to go and complain but that's not really me hehe.

You don't have to go that high if you want the first option, just see where you might want it to end, and bleach from there The first one is really just the second one, with a longer dye area and two colors being blended together. It's not difficult to do yourself, so thats going to save you a lot of money in the long run. It's just all about sectioning your hair into tiny pieces, dyeing, and then adjust and fix problem areas after you've washed it out and let it dry to get an idea of the final product. Purple and blue fade out pretty quickly so you definitely have a lot of room to play around, and then get some Color Remover to get rid of splotches left over. If I can do it and not fail miserably, so can you!

Hah, I suppose so I hadn't realised the colours fade quickly, so that's a good thing. Worst thing I'll end up with then is just bleached ends, so not too bad. Trouble is, my town is tiny and useless for stuff like hair dye. I'll go and have a look today and see if anywhere sells anything good. It might be that nowhere actually sells blue or purple (or bleach ` ) in which case I'll have to go to a salon, which will probably end up cheaper than driving out to the nearest "big" town. If you can somehow find it online, Manic Panic has a beautiful purple that I've used before that gives you the striking indigo blue!
With a bit of conditioner added and mixed, it pulls into a nice vibrant purple, so that's potentially two colors in one. But their blue is also gorgeous!
bonus is, it's vegan, and animal cruelty free!
