Ahh! Thank you I'm sure I've seen that symbol before, too. that's perfect It'll scale nicely down to the 16 by 16 pixels it needs to be.

Uuuhhh... It's kinda working? I got it to a point where you can select from the "Extra gender options" on the profile settings page, and it'll display properly on mini profiles, but I can't code it so the default gender text is hidden. The only way you can really do it is hide the default gender anyway, then select from the extra genders. This'll make the extra gender text appear in the same place, which is what I wanted anyway. I'll add graphics later, but for now the base code is live

It's in the main profile as well, but it's at the bottom of the list, underneath "Forum Wallpaper". I'll get round to moving it to be below the system default gender text when I figure out how to get the conditional statements to work properly I actually tried out the conditional statements I *thought* were working properly for the forum background code, but they weren't working either! If "none of the above" was selected, nothing was happening. The code was simply bailing out and not branching anywhere. I'm not sure how that didn't break forum seeing as the entire forum would have otherwise been without a <BODY> opening tag

I added images! I also renamed the custom field to simply "Gender", so it looks better on the profile, seeing as the system default gender will most likely be hidden anyway by those members using the expanded gender options.

FINISHED! I've FINALLY! completed the custom gender code! Selecting one of the custom gender options from the bottom of the personal page in profile settings will now display that gender, along with an image, on mini profiles and your main profile. It will now show INSTEAD of the default forum gender, as opposed to "as well as", which gives a MUCH cleaner look, and means you won't need to go into your account settings and set the default gender to hidden.
Edit: Urgh! Not quite! Can't make document.write output the HTML without erasing the entire page! I think people will need to set the default gender to hidden on their profiles instead
Edit: Got it fully working on the member profiles, but still unable to hide it on mini profiles. The code to hide it works, but it bails out after the first four posts on a page. Consistently four. I don't know why Edit: Seeing as the custom gender is displayed after the default gender, I may be able to simply place one on top of the other, effectively hiding it. I won't need to do this on a per-setting basis, if the custom gender isn't set, it simply won't be displayed.

FINISHED!!(For real this time!) I have FINALLY after WEEKS of work, got custom genders to display properly on the miniprofile, while at the same time hiding the default gender! I tried everything... I tried polling the {else} statement, so if no custom gender was selected, the default gender would show instead. This didn't work I tried setting a variable flag in JS if a custom selected was selected, then using another section of JS to show the default gender if this flag was NOT set. This didn't work I tried putting JS code in the custom option directly, so if a custom option was selected, hide the default gender. This also didn't work JS didn't work, JQuery didn't work, hiding the div calling a class didn't work, hiding a div calling an ID didn't work, even after generating random IDs on the fly! Finally I put both the default and the custom gender blocks in a div, set the div to a set size and the custom gender on top of the default gender, setting the custom gender background to white. If a custom gender was shown, this would appear over the top of the default gender. THIS WORKED! So finally we have custom genders which display properly, and hide the default gender! !!
