As many members know, Pet Haven will support responsible breeders but will not tolerate breeding done for irresponsible motives.
Despite that, we do still have a few ground rules regarding this board's usage and what kinds of threads are allowed here, in order to maintain our movement to better the many species of animals. Breeding is very serious. It is not the task of putting together a pair of animals and calling it a day. These rules are:
1. Cute Hamsters & Babies ≠ Proper Breeding Pet Haven will not be providing information to members that are breeding for reasons such as cute babies, or for the purpose of having more pets. We will not be giving anybody information on how to breed. If you are on the hunt for more animals, please opt to rescue from a shelter/rescue or a rehoming ad on websites such as GumTree, Kijiji Classifieds, or Craigslist.
2. Mom & Babies come First. While some animals allow for their owners to interact with the litters from day one, certain species of animals become stressed when disturbed early-on in their nursing. We will not tolerate members going in and stressing out mom for the purpose of a photo to post online. Please give mom her space and allow her to tend to her babies in peace. Consider taking photos when the litters are older.
3. Breeder Conduct Breeders are asked to be as transparent as they can regarding the origins of their breeding animals. Pet Haven runs on a basis of member-to-member trust and honesty. It is very appreciated that members that breed will be honest and not make up false information to avoid revealing unethical behaviour. We appreciate your activity here, and always will if you're working for the species!
4. Member Conduct Some members may run into the situation where they are faced with an accidental mating, accidental pregnancy, or accidental litter. If it was intentional, we expect members to be able to be honest and let us know, so members can guide you as necessary. It is not recommended for members to lie about their animals mating unintentionally when in fact- they were put together by the owner and the owner was fully aware.
